Blog 4 Dat’s Top Ten TV Cars of All-Time, #’s 10-6
Throughout the history of television, cars have been prominently featured on many of shows, from sitcoms to cartoons. And while everyone has their favorites, I created a list and we put it to vote. This is will be broken down into two blogs. This week we will reveal 10-6 and 5-1 will be posted next week. So, without further ado, here are the top 10 TV cars of all-time, as voted by the guys at blog4dat.
* Below each entry is the votes casted by blog4dat members Beaux, Greg, Allen, Ben, and Daryl and then the total in parenthesis.
1) DRAG-U-LA from The Munsters
The car that inspired the Rob Zombie song of the same name failed to make the top 10 here. The DRAG-U-LA is a dragster car made from a coffin. While that is an awesome ride, this “munstermobile” is up against stiff competition and does not get into the top ten. But it is still worthy of an honorable mention.

2) 1987 PONTIAC TRANS AM from The Office
Dwight Schrute was the top paper salesman at Dunder Mifflin. And he also drove the most badass car. The sports car from the 80’s was Dwight’s place to store different weaponry and various Schrute necessities. Whether he was leaving Ryan at his beet farm or head banging to some hair metal, Dwight was never without his ride. That is, until the final season, when Dwight is seen driving a different car. But, for 8 seasons, the Trans Am was his ride and that’s worth an Honorable Mention.

THE TOP TEN
VISTA CRUISER from That 70’s Show
The Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser was a focal point of many moments in the series. First, it was the setting for the opening title sequence. It was also the freedom that young Eric Foreman yearned for. Whenever Eric and the gang had somewhere to go, they jumped in the Cruiser. Even if it was against his father’s orders. The Cruiser was as much a part of the show as the houses. And that’s why the Vista Cruiser gets the #10 spot. Groovy.
Votes: 10, 12, 6, 11, 4 (43) * Won the tiebreaker with the Dwight’s 1987 Pontiac because the lowest vote best vote between the 2 was for the Cruiser.
FORD GRAN TORINO from Starsky and Hutch
The Ford Gran Torino was a staple of the 1970’s cop thriller series. Starsky and Hutch, two Southern California policemen, were never far away from their Ford. The show used the Gran Torino models made from 1974-1976 since the body never changed much. In the movie version, made in 2004, the actors were changed, but the car remained the same.

FERRARI 308 GTS from Magnum P.I.
The CBS television series that ran from 1980-1988 was a hit with its star, Tom Selleck, and its car. The Ferrari 308 GTS was used in the series first season and different variations were used throughout the remainder of the show. The Ferrari was a hot car in those days with sports car enthusiasts and collectors. And while the car was a hot item, personally, I don’t think it stands a chance against Selleck’s porn-star mustache. But, it was still pretty damn good.

FLINTMOBILE from The Flintstones
The first animated car to make the list is a classic one. The Flintstones traveled through the town of Bedrock in the most simplistic of vehicles. The Flintmobile was made of two long wheels that went from side to side and little else. There was no power source of course in the prehistoric days, so the car moved along with the motion of the passenger’s feet. That must have made for some tiresome car rides.

MACH 5 from Speed Racer
The Mach 5 was the racing car of Speed Racer. It was built by his father and the name is no doubt in relation to how fast the car can go. The Mach 5 is a highly specialized car with a series of buttons on the steering wheel hub that can perform differing functions or utilize various devices, including saws, tire grips, and special headlights. The car is even equipped with a periscope for underwater adventures. I’m not sure if it would be a blessing or a curse if cars like this really existed with the horrible drivers out there.
