Blog 4 Dat Style: The Best Action Movie One Liner Tournament Final Four
Round 1 action gave us a few upsets. Round 2 gave us some great matchups and some stunners. Round 3 set the stage to the Best Action Movie One Liner Tournament Final Four. As a refresher, the tournament was set up by three contributors of Blog 4 Dat, all given one vote. A bracket was formed and off we went. Now, to the Final Four.
2. “You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?” Batman – Versus – 3. “Go ahead, make my day.” Sudden Impact
Remember when you first saw Tim Burton’s Batman? At the time it seemed so dark and true to the roots of Batman, not the Bam! and Pow! of the Adam West version of Batman. Hell it seemed so realistic. Times have changed and so has Batman. Jack Nicholson is no longer the greatest Joker, instead the late Heath Ledger is (depending who you ask). Christain Bale has all of the Batman records including the winner of the most terrible voice change. Christopher Nolan may have stretched out realism to a degree in the third installment of the new Dark Knight movies, but he set a new prescedent and peak for comic book movies. Ok, enough about the new Batman… The Tim Burton directed Batman had the Joker deliver the line to Bruce Wayne twice (as a kid and the love interest of Vicky Vale) before having it dished out onto him, only moments before the death of the Joker.
Yes, Batman used to kill bad guys.
In the other corner, you have one of the baddest men to ever own the big screen. Dirty Harry. 5 movies, all delivering death and carnage. I got to imagine his police chief has had a few bottles of TUMS and Jack Daniels because of Harry Callahan. If you’re under 30 years old, chances are you haven’t seen these movies unless you happened to sit through one with your dad or grandpa. If you haven’t seen them, do it. IF you don’t have the time, here is all you need to see to know who Dirty Harry is…
In a really close battle, just edging this one out 2-1 and moving to the finals… Winner: “You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?”
1. “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.” Die Hard – Versus – 1. “Say Hello to my Little Friend!” Scarface
Two heavyweights coming into this one. A still living legend, maybe could have done without the Justin Long PG-13 version of Die Hard, John McClane takes on the dead Tony Montana. Here’s a look at the lines…
Solid outing by John McClane. What the line means exactly? I have no clue. Combine that with the crazy, demented laugh, even better? McClane is about to punch your ticket to hell when he spits that line at ya. Now for Mr. Montana…
If you know the end is near, why not try to blast every mofo you see until you’re either out of bullets or you’re out of bodies to shoot. Doing a mountain of cocaine before probably helps out on the amount of punishment you’re giving and taking. But today was not Tony’s day.
Taking it 2-1 and moving to the finals… Winner: “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.”
THE BEST ACTION MOVIE ONE LINER TOURNAMENT
1. “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.” Die Hard – Versus – 2. “You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?” Batman
Enough with the fourplay (get its like foreplay… ya it’s lame, but I’m 4,000 words into this tournament and we just got through the final four), that’s get to the action. Enough discussion has happened for crying out loud.
Winning a decisive 3-0… and your Best Action Movie One Liner Winner: “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.”
And now, a tribute to the winner (Spoilers… he kills all the bad guys).
