Wow! The new Fantastic Four looks promising!

I just watched the trailer for the Fantastic Four reboot and I have to admit that I got pretty pumped up for this. Fans of the comic book heroes already know the story. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm made their big screen debut in 2005. The movie was not a box office bomb, but it didn’t receive positive reviews and was generally looked at negatively by the fans.

A 2007 sequel followed and introduced audiences to the Silver Surfer character. Once again, the movie did well at the box office but received negative reviews. After this, the foursome seemed doomed to every reappear on the big screen. But, this year, Fox and Marvel teamed up and are giving us hope.

Fantastic Four is set to be released on August 7 and is directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle). The movie is also being produced by the people behind the amazing X-Men: Days of Future Past. In front of the camera is a whole new set of actors that will be portraying our favorite characters.

Miles Teller (Project X) is our new Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Kate Mara (Brokeback Mountain) is playing Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Ben Grimm/ The Thing will be played by Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot). And Johnny Storm/Human Torch will be played by Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station).

I am probably excited the most by the selection of Jordan because he has been good in everything I have seen from him. But no matter who is in the cast, the story must be solid for this to work. If this fails, it could be the end of the Fantastic Four on the big screen. But I am pretty comfortable that Marvel will get it right this time. And with this movie being set in the same universe as the X-Men films, it should help to bring some of those fans over as well.

I think fans will be skeptical about it until it comes out. People are used to excellent films from Marvel and will not want anything less. And with Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man also coming out this year, the Fantastic Four will have some big-time competition. But if this trailer is any indication, then I think we are all in for a nice treat.
