2016 College Football Playoff National Championship Game Prediction
Before the Arizona Cardinals can play their first playoff game at the University of Phoenix Stadium, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers will take the field there and battle for the right to be National Champions. The stadium will play host to the biggest college football game of the season and it should be a great one. Coaches Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney have their teams ready and the world now waits to watch the spectacle.
The Crimson Tide won the SEC Championship once again and are most people’s favorite to win the National Championship as well. Nick Saban’s reign as head coach continues to be as impressive as anything in college football and he looks to add another accolade to his resume. Alabama is led by Heisman trophy-winning RB Derrick Henry, another in a long line of dominating running backs for the Crimson Tide. He is surely a big part of their game plan, but the Crimson Tide are also hoping for a big game from QB Jake Coker and WR Calvin Ridley. These two, with Henry, were big factors in Alabama’s 38-0 win over Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl.
The ACC champion Clemson Tigers are the only undefeated team in the country and a huge reason is the tremendous job Dabo Swinney has done coaching the Tigers to this point. The Tigers have been a team that nearly reaches the top and this season Swinney has helped lead Clemson to the very top. On the field, QB Deshaun Watson has been the biggest factor on the offensive side. The star quarterback has been steady and helped the Tigers win every game this year. On the defensive side of the ball, DE Shaq Lawson has been the leader. He is battling an injury but if he can play tomorrow night and be somewhat effective, he will help the Clemson defense slow down the Alabama offense.
Both teams had a great season and each had an impressive bowl win to get here. The Crimson Tide blanked Michigan State while Clemson beat Oklahoma 37-17 in the Orange Bowl. And most people are sure to pick Alabama and rightfully so. But my heart is telling me to pick Clemson. It just feels like it is their time to rise and finally win it all. Swinney is a former player and assistant at Alabama and I believe he will have his team ready for the rough Crimson Tide offense and will be able to pull out a close win. The pressure will on both teams, but Clemson will get the job done. The Clemson Tigers are my pick to win the 2016 College Football National Championship.
